This blog post discusses our response to different questions regarding our target audience. |
1. It’s important to know who the target audience are as it makes sure that the intended purpose of the documentary reaches the right people, whether it would be the people affected, people involved, etc.
2. It helps tailor our message as the people we target would understand the concept more and would be able to take in the message from the documentary. Content that is engaging has to start from understanding before getting audiences hooked to the main purpose or theme.
3. Lalaland is a great example of a successful product as it was deemed relatable to a lot of its target audience, mainly middle class young adult. It was relatable as it showed the journey it took to get to the main goal which not only applied to actors/musicians as displayed in the movie but as well applied to every other facet of life whereby people have to overcome a struggle to reach success and that the realities of life could hit people but they could also take that in and become better people in the future.
4. The content has the potential to not be understood by the audience, this makes the audience engage and interact less with the product as they do not know it’s message. This also makes the content less successful since it did not appease the demand of the audience. For there to be success and business, the product has to cater to an audience’s needs and therefore by not appealing to those means, there would be no attention to it and make the documentary useless since it doesn’t appeal or have an effect on the masses.
5. Understanding the preferences of the audience, makes it easy to make the message clear to audiences. Creating this vision would create a better product. This would also act as a baseline in the creative decisions we make regarding our documentary. Whether it’d be pre/post-production, we aim to create a product that appeals to our audiences. We plan on doing this by creating a multitude of surveys to decide which options our audiences would gravitate to the most
